Bio & Description
Dr. Keim completed her doctorate in clinical psychology with a focus in health psychology, neuropsychology, and clinical sport psychology. She provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy for an array of diverse populations including children, adolescents, and adults as well as conducting psychological assessments. Her interests include sport psychology, life transitions, family-work-life balance, career counseling, stress management, body image, eating disorders, grief, mindfulness, and mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. Her therapeutic approach is to create a safe and collaborative space for clients while working from an integrative and strength-based approach. She helps clients learn more effective coping strategies and life skills for managing challenging thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to achieve their therapeutic goals.
Area of Expertise (Sports and Body Areas)
Dr. Keim also has her master’s in sport psychology and works to assist athletes, teams, and coaches in all aspects of performance enhancement. She believes in working from a holistic style that enables athletes to attain greater progress in their performance by combining both physical and mental training. She is experienced in working with athletes and teams from various endurance sports such as cycling (road, mountain bike, cyclocross), long distance running, track and field, triathlon, swimming, rowing, as well as soccer, tennis, skiing, speed skating, gymnastics, and dance performance. Dr. Keim’s research focuses are on mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBIs) in athletes, as well as athlete identity and the transition out of sport.
Background and Personal Athletic Experience
Dr. Keim grew up dancing ballet and modern and went on to earn a minor in dance performance from The University of Georgia. She also played competitive tennis and soccer in high school. Dr. Keim actually started the first girls soccer team during her sophomore year at Newberry High School. Her love for sport and being outdoors led to her passion for cycling and becoming a competitive elite road cyclist racing throughout the US for several years.
