Bio & Description
Nutritional needs change alongside the demands of training and the variability of life. I work collaboratively with athletes to develop eating patterns that fit into their every day lives and support their athletic endeavors.
Area of Expertise (Sports and Body Areas)
I work with endurance athletes, including triathletes and adaptive athletes/athletes with disabilities. I have a Master of Science in Nutrition from Bastyr University; my background is in Natural Health and Integrative and Functional Nutrition.
Background and Personal Athletic Experience
My primary sports growing up were karate, running, and biking. I decided I wanted to do a triathlon when I was 19, and started swimming with a Masters team after surviving my first sprint. I raced as as an able bodied athlete until I was 26, doing sprint and Olympic triathlons, running half and full marathons, and riding my bike every chance I got, including a 500 mile trip down the Oregon coast.
I broke my neck in a car accident in 2012, sustaining a spinal cord injury. Amid a lot of life changes and uncertainty, including a new career path, I was determined to remain an athlete. I played wheelchair rugby with the Seattle Slam for six years, and after re-learning to swim, did my first indoor triathlon in 2015. I’ve since completed several sprint triathlons and a half marathon in the wheelchair division, with a goal of a 70.3 in 2020.
