Bio & Description

Ryan established his physical therapy career in Seattle in 2018, though he began working in 2001 as a PT in Illinois. He spent almost all of his time there in Chicago, where he worked in an outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine practice. He also was the Head Physical Therapist for the Chicago Fire Soccer Club (MLS) from 2015 to 2018. He also very much enjoys treating runners and has successfully treated many marathon runners with 7 of them in the books himself!

He enjoys treating athletes of all levels, regularly seeing the weekend warrior, and he has previously worked with NBA and MLS athletes, including league MVPs and All-Stars. Outside of sports medicine, Ryan has had great success treating patients with complex spine conditions. In addition, he specializes in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD).

He became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) in 2007, specializing in manual therapy. In addition, he is board-certified by the American Physical Therapy Association in both Sports (SCS) and Orthopedics (OCS). He is the only PT in Seattle to hold all of the FAAOMPT, SCS and OCS credentials.

He has taught continuing education courses to many other PTs. He has taught over 100 full weekend courses nationwide, most commonly on the topics of the shoulder, hip, TMJ and spine. He also serves as mentor and program coordinator for a sports residency program.

Outside of Avant PT, you can find Ryan hiking with his wife, Stacy, and labrador retriever, Guinness.
